REHABILITATION

Rehabilitation therapies provided:

KINESIOTHERAPY
The word kinesis means movement. It is an individual treatment that aims to facilitate recovery of the correct articular extent of one or more joints which have been damaged as a result of trauma, surgery, prolonged immobilization (plaster, support, etc.) Kinesiotherapy / movement re-education includes various techniques and through gradual work the therapist helps the patient to regain the greater CHIROPRACTIC mobility.

CHIROPRACTIC is one of the most widespread natural healing methods in its field. It is aimed at studying, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders and their effects on the general state of health. It focuses on treating the reasons that causes physical problems instead of treating the symptoms. Among the most common pathologies, chiropractic is used on back pain, sports injuries, dental malocclusions, arthritis, headaches, sciatica and many other problems.

TECAR THERAPY
Within the motor rehabilitation and physiotherapy field, tecar therapy basically involves an energetic activation of the patient’s body. In fact, during tecar therapy, energy is stimulated directly from within the muscle tissue. The aim is to activate the natural anti-inflammatory and repairing processes that our body predisposes of. This allows to considerably reduce the patient’s pain threshold as well as to accelerate time recovery during the rehabilitation phase.

ULTRASOUNDS
Ultrasound has many beneficial effects, among which
– analgesic (against pain);
– anti-oedematous , (against bloating)
– fibrinolytic (against tissue adhesions and to realign collagen fibres);
– cell bio-stimulation;
– muscle structure relaxation action.

It can therefore be used for the following pathologies: insertional tendinopathies, tendinitis, tendinosis and tenosynovitis; epicondylitis and epitrocleitis (tennis and golfer’s elbow); arthritic forms; keloid type scars; oedema; bruises; distortions.

RADIAL SHOCK WAVES

For treating painful osteo-muscular pathologies.
One of the most advanced systems for treating osteo-muscular pain pathologies using radial shockwaves is available at ’Sol et Salus Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Clinic.

For more information go to the “News” section

Effectiveness
The pathologies advisable for shockwave treatment have been scientifically verified.
Articles regarding the effectiveness on calcific shoulder tendinitis, plantar fasciitis and tennis elbow have been published in magazines such as the Journal of American Medical Association, the Journal of Orthopaedic Research and the Journal of Orthopaedic.

What are radial shock waves used for?
(therapeutic indications)

  • Calcific shoulder tendinosis
  • Shoulder pain
  • Elbow epicondylitis
  • Trochanteric tendinitis
  • Goose foot tendinitis
  • Patellar tendinitis
  • Achilles tendon tendinopathy
  • Chronic pubalgia
  • Calcaneal spur
  • Calcified bursitis
  • Main joint chondrocalcinosis
  • Oxidizing myositis
  • Muscle and ligament fibromatosis
  • Calcification delays in fractures

ANALGESIC ELECTROTHERAPY
The word “electrotherapy” usually refers to the therapeutic use of electricity in all its forms. It can also take advantage of certain drug properties that are carried through the same electricity in the area to be treated (iontophoresis). It is used to treat acute and chronic pain affecting the musculoskeletal system. It consists of a non-invasive method that does not require the use of drugs.

POSTURAL RE-EDUCATION
Postural re-education, better known as Postural Gymnastics, is a specific method that consists of a series of exercises designed to rebalance the muscle-ligament tension in the body. In particular, by using a global body work it acts on the most rigid and retracted areas that over time can cause incorrect balancing and pain.

NEUROMOTOR REHABILITATION
Neuromotor rehabilitation is the process in which specific neuromuscular is activated in a disabling neurological damage by using manoeuvres which lead to a specific peripheral receptor stimulation. The therapies are aimed at achieving and maintaining the best possible functional levels in the physical, sensory, intellectual, psychological and social areas.

LYMPHEDEMA TREATMENT
Lymphedema occurs when the lymph fluid cannot flow properly to the heart and stagnates in the tissues causing swelling. Treating lymphedema is aimed at reducing the volume of the affected limb and improving its function, relieving symptoms, preventing further stagnation of lymph fluid and the onset of infections. After the treatment, the swelling should reduce and the symptoms should improve but in some cases it may take weeks or months before you notice a real improvement.

LYMPH DRAINAGE
Lymph drainage or “manual lymphatic drainage” (MLD) is a particular type of massage performed on the body parts with an excessive reduction of lymphatic circulation and liquid stagnation. The technique is widely used in the aesthetic field to fight cellulitis imperfections but this particular massage method is also used to solve major conditions: oedema reabsorption, neurovegetative system regulation and to help healing ulcers and sores.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
The Occupational Therapy service relates to the following pathologies: neurological (stroke, cerebral haemorrhage, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord lesions, peripheral neuropathies…); traumatic (polytrauma, head trauma…); orthopaedic-rheumatologic (rheumatoid arthritis, arthrosis, osteoporosis…) It supports and integrates the individual rehabilitation programme by intervening with selected and gradual actions so as to reach the persons maximum autonomy and independence in various life aspects.
