Pulmonology is the medical discipline that treats respiratory system diseases. The respiratory tract and lungs are targeted by bacterial diseases, viruses and toxic substances (gases, powders, etc.) which can easily enter the respiratory system when inhaling air, as well as by tumours.
Among the main complications are the cold, sinusitis, flu, laryngitis, asthma, cough, whooping cough, bronchitis, pneumonia, bronchopneumonia, tuberculosis, pleurisy, emphysema, respiratory failure, nasal obstructions and lung tumours.
